Spartan Phoenix’s Top 101 Movies Of All Time… Back in 2004

 August 22nd, 2010

When I started this Spartan Phoenix Movie Marathon Man yearlong experiment blog last February I knew that I would have to include a top 101-movie list. When I finish this yearlong movie tour of duty I will update and share my current top 101 movies of all time. When I say, “update” I should let you know that the last time I did this was back in 2004.

In 2004 I was working for a game company. Most of my co-workers were movie nerds like myself. We liked most of the same movies and many times went to see movies together after work or found time to go to movies while we were on the road working together. Sometimes we did movie marathons together. One of my co-workers posted his top 100-movie list at his work cubicle. After that several other co-workers including myself posted our own top 100-movie list. The movie debates heated up after this and supplied us with plenty of material for jokes and ribbing between each other. I even went as far to do a top 100 list of my worst movies and top 100 list of my favorite TV shows.

I thought it would be fun to share my 2004 top 101-movie list with you all. Its kind of a snap shot of the pop culture movie scene at the time and a look back at what I thought were my favorite movies then. When I do my new 2011 top 101 movie list next year when I wrap up this little experiment, it will be interesting to see which movies from my 2004 year will still make the cut. My #1 movie of all time back in 2004 was Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). Will it keep the top spot or stay on the list in 2011? I’ll let you know then. So here is my 2004 Top 101 movie list. Its good for a laugh, so enjoy. If you have a top 5 movie list yourself, please free to post it in your reply.

Thank you for including Point Break I have had to endure many of years of ridicule for stating it is one of the best action movies ever. And it goes much deeper than that though most people can’t see it the first time they watch it.
